A greenhouse will be built under the project “HUB for the Development of Vegetable Farming in the Teofipol Municipality”. The project will be financed by U-LEAD, as reported by Dmytro Vasylenko, Head of the Regional Office of U-LEAD in the Khmelnytskyi oblast.
“Vegetables grown by local producers account for only 10-15% of the municipality’s needs, and more than 80% of vegetable crops are imported from other oblasts of Ukraine or from abroad. In the conditions of a full-scale war, this situation threatens food security, so this project will ensure their own vegetable farming capacity,” he said.
The project will be implemented by Territory of New Changes NGO. Its main goal is to increase the capability of the municipally-owned enterprise TeofipolLisVod to grow the main groups of seedlings and vegetables in greenhouses. The project provides for:
-
creation of greenhouse infrastructure with an area of up to 500 sq. m.;
-
staff training;
-
implementation of pilot measures for farming vegetables.
Experts will also analyse the existing needs and requests of vulnerable groups of the population. Seedlings will be provided free of charge for individual cultivation on private plots, and economically active households and small farms will be provided with planting stock and trained workers.
