Therefore, the state has provided various formats of educational services in order to the ensure safety of all participants of the educational process during the academic year wherever they are geographically. Maksym Tkach, Head of the Regional Office of U-LEAD with Europe in the Donetsk region, told Donechyna TV about this.
Depending on geographical location, municipalities currently face various challenges related to organising the educational process. As for the municipalities that are close to the active hostilities, and these include all the municipalities of the Donetsk region at the moment, they are affected by constant shelling, experience destruction of educational infrastructure and require special attention to people's safety. Since the mandatory evacuation is ongoing in the Donetsk region, and many have already moved to other regions or abroad, the big challenge is to preserve a stable team of students and teachers.
As for students, the situation is simpler. The format of education can be chosen and changed during the school year at the request of parents, depending on the security situation in the region where the family is currently located Institutional formats such as distance, offline, mixed, and individual learning (external study, homeschooling, educational patronage) are available.
Due to security reasons, many regions will provide only distance learning, and some will offer mixed educational formats, i.e. Some combination of offline and distance learning. As for individual learning formats, there are those that can provide educational services to children of IDPs, children from understaffed schools and children who are abroad because of the war.
For example, an external study means that a student is registered at a school but studies at home, Mr Tkach noted. At the same time, the student takes all annual tests at the school, consults with teachers, and is recognized as a student of the school to which he is assigned during the exams.
Homeschooling involves the organisation of the child’s educational process independently by their parents. Parents are responsible for their child’s education at a level not lower than education standards. Educational patronage is a format that can be used for students who cannot attend school every day for health reasons or for students who receive primary and basic education in schools in rural areas that cannot organise the educational process due to the small number of students (less than 5 students per class).
If the family is abroad, in addition to the homeschooling and external study, you can opt for studying at an international Ukrainian school in order to continue studying at your educational institution after the war or to a Ukrainian certificate of education this year if it is a graduating year.
