Thematic priorities of the Programme projects:
- Smart Europe: research and innovation, digitalisation, startups;
- Green Europe: energy efficiency, waste and water resources management;
- Connected Europe: development of the European transport network and sustainable mobility;
- Social Europe: education, healthcare, inclusivity, development of culture and sustainable tourism;

- Better Regional Governance: improving the work of local self-government bodies and the level of the services they provide to citizens.
“Interreg Europe is a programme financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) with a budget of 379 million euros, most of which — almost 90% — goes towards the co-financing of interregional cooperation projects. Up to 40% of the total budget of the Programme, approximately 130 million euros, is available specifically for the third call for proposals, which is open from 20 March 2024 to 7 June 2024. This is a 4-year project,” Alina Bondar, administrative professional at the U-LEAD with Europe, said at the info session.
Co-financing from the Programme is 70% or non-profit and 80% for state authorities and bodies regulated by public law. The remaining 30% or 20% must be provided by the partners themselves. The recommended project budget is 1 to 2 million euros.
In turn, as Tetiana Bondarenko, project manager at U-LEAD, pointed out, when forming a partnership for participation in the Programme, the recommended number of partners is 5 to 16 participants (at least 3 participating countries, at least 2 of which must be EU member states).
NOTE: You have to be registered on the Interreg Europe platform to search for partners and study best practices and official documents of the Programme, as well as registered on the European Commission’s Funding & Tenders Portal in order to obtain a Participant Identification Code (PIC).
