What it is?
This is an opportunity to deepen understanding of general principles of access to public information, approaches to consideration of requests for information by local self-government bodies, to raise awareness of peculiarities and requirements for disclosure of public information on official websites of local self-government bodies in the form of open data, etc.
Within the Training Program participants will:
- increase the level of professional competence regarding the application of international and national standards for ensuring the right to information,
- improve the ability to organise and implement appropriate access to public information in local self-government bodies according to the Law of Ukraine "On Access to Public Information",
- develop skills to legally restrict access to information under martial law,
- understand the mechanisms for ensuring the transparency and openness of local self-government bodies,
- receive recommendations from leading national experts in access to public information and will be able to exchange experience with colleagues from other regions of Ukraine.
When?
The Training Program starts on 2 May 2024 and runs until 20 June 2024. It is 8 weeks long. All events will be held online and are free for participants. Participants will receive certificates based on the results of successfully completed training.
Who can join the Program?
50 officials of local self-government bodies that are responsible for disclosing and providing access of requesters to public information (council secretaries, managers of executive committees, leaders and specialists of relevant structural units of the council).
Participants must represent municipalities with a population of up to 50,000, not be located in the temporarily occupied territory, and have the appropriate technical facilities for online learning.
