The Twinning Cooperation Project is an integrated part of the Danish Support to U-LEAD with Europe and on the recent Steering Group Meeting held on February 21 all the participants reconfirmed their commitment to the goals and plans of the project.
The aim of the meeting was to overlook the development of the project and to discuss achievements and further plans.
“Our activities were affected by the war, but we will continue the partnership within Twinning Cooperation Project”, said Simon Hansen, mayor of Guldborgsund.
Ukrainian municipalities were represented by Ivan Dyriv, Mayor of Dolyna, Mariya Nikorych, Mayor of Novoselytska Municipality, and Andriy Deliatynchuk, Mayor of Yasinianska Municipality, who expressed their gratitude to the Danish colleagues for their support and alliance and stressed the importance of the cooperation in times like this.
Activities of the Component 1: Dialogue and cooperation with citizens, that was implemented in 2022, were adjusted to the newly emerged needs of the municipalities and successfully delivered their specialists. Guldborgsund representatives conducted 2 seminars in January on the Guldborgsund Mindset and 2 workshops on Participatory Approaches to Planning in October; 2 workshops on Mechanisms of public participation were conducted in February by Ukrainian expert.
In Components 2 and 3 it is planned to deepen the cooperation between 9 Ukrainian municipalities and municipality of Guldborgsund. In addition to the seminars and workshops, 3 internships will be conducted, allowing Ukrainian specialists to visit Guldborgsund. Another key part of the work plan, that all the participants are looking forward to, is a Study visit of Ukrainian mayors or other high-level municipal representatives to Guldborgsund. These internships and the study visit present significant opportunity for Ukrainian municipal specialists to study first-hand examples, cases and experience of Guldborgsund municipality.
