U-LEAD with Europe is honored to invite you to join our practical discussion on "Building sustainable municipalities". Let's rebuild Ukraine and make it prosperous — together!

We are pleased to announce a large-scale exchange dedicated to the restoration and development of Ukraine, which will take place on March 8, 2024.

This event will be a place to discuss the role of Ukraine, in general, and its municipalities, in particular, in the process of rebuilding the country, intensifying international support and to create institutionally and socially sustainable communities.

The main objective

The Practical Exchange will serve as a platform for sharing experience and good practices in decentralisation, regional development, and local recovery projects. The event aims to inspire public officials, civil society and private sector actors to perceive recovery as an opportunity to "build back better", cultivating a sustainable, resilient and inclusive Ukraine.

For whom

The event gathers representatives of international donors, the Ukrainian government, local leaders, practitioners, experts and civil society activists. It is aimed at everyone who is interested in the reconstruction and sustainable development of Ukraine.

Agenda

The event will take place in a hybrid format, which will allow participants from all over the world to join the exchange. It includes panel discussions and sharing experience in the development and implementation of local projects for recovery and infrastructure development.

Special attention will be paid to the importance of coordination between different levels of government and the involvement of international expertise in the reconstruction process.

How to participate

Interested individuals, organizations and media representatives are invited to participate in the event which aims not only to highlight current successes and challenges in the reconstruction of Ukraine, but also to contribute to the development of long-term strategies for creating sustainable and prosperous municipalities.

Registration is required to participate in the event.

Bridges of Trust initiative led to a partnership between a municipality of the Zakarpattia Oblast and the French municipality

The Kamianske municipality and the commune of Porto-Vecchio have signed the international partnership agreement, under which children from the municipality will go to France for rehabilitation, and the municipality will receive generators and other equipment to ensure energy security. They are also planning to raise funds in partnership with Solidarité Corse Ukraine.

Support for Emergency Repairs in Municipalities”. Its first stage is providing municipalities with vehicles. Under the second stage, tools necessary for recovery will be provided.

The full-scale war took a toll on our schools and educational logistics. To address this need, U-LEAD was able to purchase school buses for seven municipalities with donor funds.

Financial autonomy of educational institutions in the Zoria municipality

Financial autonomy in education can follow two different approaches: either each institution introduces the position of an accountant, or the municipality creates a special municipal institution that serves all educational institutions. The Zoria municipality, Rivne Oblast, chose the second option and shared its success story with other municipalities in the oblast at an experience exchange event held with the support of U-LEAD.

Creative group from Kazakhstan received the grand prize at the Christmas Star Competition

More than 80 groups and artists from 13 oblasts of Ukraine joined the Christmas Star Competition, a festival held by the Sofiivka municipality, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, with the informational support provided by U-LEAD. Donations for the Armed Forces of Ukraine were collected during the event.

12 schools will be restored in three regions of Ukraine with the support of U-LEAD

Development of Municipal Energy Plans: U-LEAD announces open call for the support programme.
