How can a municipality create an energy security system to respond to the challenges and threats of today and the future? Is the municipality fully aware of the potential of using energy sources? How can the Municipal Energy Plan (MEP) help them achieve energy independence and receive international assistance? If you are interested in the answers to these questions, apply to join the Experience Sharing Network (Support Programme) “Development of Municipal Energy Plan”.
What is it about?
The Experience Sharing Network “Development of Municipal Energy Plan” is a four-month support programme for municipalities that wish to develop a Municipal Energy Plan with expert support and build horizontal connections. Grouped into small teams, municipal officials will be able to:

Get advice and guidance from experts on the development of a Municipal Energy Plan (MEP), which is a mandatory document for municipalities in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Energy Efficiency”;

Prepare a Draft Municipal Energy Plan;

Exchange experience and ideas regarding the creation of the municipal energy security system, taking into account the profile of their territory;

Master skills and acquire knowledge in the field of implementation of measures aimed at energy independence of the municipality;

Establish contacts with colleagues from other municipalities for possible cooperation.
Target audience
Motivated municipalities with a population of up to 50,000 that are ready to delegate three representatives to work on the development of a Municipal Energy Plan, whose duties are related to economic and investment activities, housing and utility services, energy and project management.
We offer:

To go step by step, together with experts, through the entire process of developing a Municipal Energy Plan according to the methodology developed by the relevant Ministry;

To learn to analyse the energy resources of your municipality and develop goals for increasing the level of energy independence of the municipality;

To work out comprehensive practical measures for the development of the energy security system of the municipality;
-
To gain knowledge and skills on how to write projects to get donor aid in the energy sector.
When do we start?
7 June 2023 The duration of the Programme is 4 months. Event formats: info sessions, seminars, workshops, group and individual consultations. Participants should be ready for intensive teamwork.

Fill out the attached application form and send it to regops.u-lead@giz.de by 8 May 2023 (18:00), with “Name of your municipality, oblast, Development of Municipal Energy Plan” in the subject of the email.
Any questions regarding participation in the Programme can be asked during promotional events for municipalities, which will take place on 26 April 2023 at 11:00 a.m. (duration: 1 hour).
