The front-line Mykhailo-Lukasheve municipality is already thinking about post-war recovery. Among the business ideas, the most promising projects include the creation of a board and care home for seniors, the modernisation of the premises of the former cultural centre into a hotel with a restaurant and the arrangement of recreation areas and fishing spots at the lake shore.
The municipality proposes to use the premises of the former hospital and a plot of land for the board and care home. This business plan is promising since there are no similar private institutions in the oblast with a senior population of more than 150,000.
The hotel with the restaurant is to be established in the premises of the cultural centre in the central part of the Mykhailo-Lukashove village. The municipality is located at the intersection of important transport junctures, and the two-day tourist route “Highlights of the Ukrainian Steppe” passes through it, so a hospitality business will be in demand. Especially since there are no similar establishments within an over 50 km drive.
The Mykhailo-Lukasheve municipality is known for its village of Helendzhyk, a home to EtnoSelo, a green tourism destination. Investors are offered to create a destination for recreation and fishing on the shore of the lake near this estate.
The investment passport also provides information about other land plots and properties that are offered for business projects.
“We prepared this document by taking part in the U-LEAD with Europe initiative to develop investment passports. Together with U-LEAD experts, we conducted a step-by-step inventory of our resources and capabilities and presented it to the local business community and the municipality. We feel that local businesses are interested in the proposals. However, we understand that we will be able to implement all ideas after the Victory. It is unlikely that investors will come to our municipality now, but we are ready for cooperation and already have recovery plans,” said Olena Baidukova, head of the municipality.
The working group of the Mykhailo-Lukasheve municipality assessed factors of investment attractiveness and identified the most interesting proposals at the events that took place in the Regional Office of U-LEAD in the Zaporizhzhia oblast. Expert Mykola Durman and the Office team coordinated this activity.
In September-December 2022, our experts provided support in the development of investment passports to 87 municipalities. To streamline the work and get better results, they developed a document template in a slide format that can be uploaded to the website, presented at public events, etc.
